Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNO): With Ramadan around the corner, fruit and vegetable markets in Kashmir are already stocked with fresh arrivals, ensuring a smooth supply for the holy month. Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Association (KVFGDU) Chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer on Thursday said the Valley has sufficient stock to meet the growing demand. “Every day, around 5,000 to 6,000 fruit boxes reach Kashmir, with 400-500 boxes per vehicle. As temperatures rise, the demand for fruits like watermelons and melons, especially during Ramadan, will increase, and supply from outside will also go up,” Basheer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said vegetables are also available in good quantities, and prices will remain stable. “Even if the weather plays spoilsport and the highway gets blocked, we have enough stock to keep the markets running,” he added. Meanwhile, data on daily vegetable stocks in the Kashmir Valley, as accessed by the KNO, reveals a steady supply of fruits, ensuring markets remain well-stocked. The latest arrivals include dates of various varieties in 10-15 trolleys, oranges in 10-15 trolleys, grapes (Nasik) in 10-12 trolleys, grapes (Sholapuri) in 8-10 trolleys, grapes (Sangli) in 5-8 trolleys daily, bananas in 20-25 Tata Mobiles and 10-15, 407 vehicles, along with watermelons in 7-8 trolleys and melons in 8-10 trolleys. Notably, with traders gearing up for bulk business and markets abuzz with pre-Ramadan shopping, officials have reassured that supplies will remain uninterrupted—(KNO)
